Sabina Ulubeanu (b. Bucharest, 1979) is one of the complex artistic personalities of her generation, as her work comprises composition, photography, musicology, teaching and experimental performance. Conceptually, Sabina is interested in bringing together space, time and memory, elements that unify the music and the visual arts. In 2011 she completed her PhD studies with the thesis „The Function of Memory in the Construction of Musical Time”, a theme that represents her artistic manifesto.
Sabina studied composition in Bucharest and Oldenburg under Tiberiu Olah, Doina Rotaru and Violeta Dinescu, attended various masterclasses in Europe and she is a member of the Romanian Composers Union. Her works have been performed in Romania, Europe and USA, and her photographs were exhibited in important European festivals.
Currently, Sabina Ulubeanu is the Artistic Director and co-founder of InnerSound New Arts Festival Bucharest. She is the musical reviewer and partner of the George Enescu International Festival’s website and also a speaker in various events, such as TEDx (Cambridge School Of Bucharest-2015), Aspen Ideas Sibiu (2016) Pecha Kucha (2012) etc.
Last, but never least, Sabina is the proud mother of two wonderful children, aged 14 and 9, who are her everyday joy and profound inspiration.
